Tony Patton is one of several tireless researchers regarding the Battle of Resaca. He recently discovered these Confederate Military Correspondences.

The Headquarters, Army of Tennessee The Provost Marshal General’s Office Resaca May 14, 1864 ) Col. I have sent over 600 stragglers to their commands. I have an efficient guard at the three Bridges over the River. I have instructed them to pass no one unless staff officer and higher commanders I have a surgeon placed at the Bridge to examine all men representing themselves as sick. If sick I have them sent to Hospital. If able for duty I send under guard to their commands. I have sent a squad of Cavalry and a company of Infantry to Calhoun to bring up every man able for duty. I will have 10 or 15 scouts to return between their and dark and will promptly furnish you with their reports. If there are any other instructions please forward them to me by courier.)
