Here is a fascinating correspondence between Wesley O. Conner, a member of Van Den Corput's Battery and George Blakesee, a member of the 129th Illinois Infantry - one of the units that was in the attacking force on Van Den Corput's battery on May 15th. (This is a PDF file.)
